Terms of Service

Last updated 18 September 2026

Mkono is a product and service of Imara Labs ("Imara Labs", "we", "us", "our"). Imara Labs owns and operates Mkono. These Terms govern your use of the Mkono websites and platform (the "Service").

By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who we are

Mkono is operated by Imara Labs, registered at 300 Delaware Ave, Wilmington, DE 19801, USA. Mkono is a brand and product of Imara Labs, not a separate company.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service, or the minimum working age in your country if that is lower. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement.

What Mkono is

Mkono connects vetted assistants with clients who need work done. We vet and introduce; we facilitate the working relationship and payment. We are not a party to the work itself.

Assistants are independent contractors. They are not employees of Imara Labs and not employees of the clients they work with. They set their own rates, keep their own hours, and issue their own invoices.

Fees and the Open Split

Mkono charges the client a published fee on the client charge. We take no foreign-exchange spread. The full split is shown to the client: what the assistant is paid, employer costs where applicable, and the Mkono fee.

Assistants never pay Mkono anything, at any stage. There is no fee to apply, to be vetted, to be placed, or to rank higher. If anyone asks an assistant for money in Mkono’s name, it is not us; report it to hello@mkono.africa.

Your responsibilities

Give accurate information, keep your account details current, and use the Service lawfully. Do not misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or use it to harm others.

Intellectual property

The Mkono platform, brand, and content are owned by Imara Labs. Work product created by an assistant for a client belongs to that engagement as agreed between the client and the assistant, not to Mkono.

Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Imara Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, or from the acts of any assistant or client.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access where these Terms are breached or where required to protect the Service or its users.

Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not take away any mandatory consumer, employment, or data-protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live or work.
